THE JEWS AND THEIR DECEITS by ADOLF HITLER

When I first heard about Hitler, the first thing that popped into my mind is hate since I have heard many negative rumours about him. A little brief about him is he was born in 1889. He spent most of his early life in town known as Linz, Austria. Hitler’s father was a heavy drinker and very active in politics. Hitler had experience the sad ancient times being beaten by his father when he was young. The reason of why he becomes so cruel is maybe because of his own father. Here, I clearly know that he has his own reason why he becomes violent and I should not blame him actually.

From the article The Jews and their Deceit by Adolf Hiler, he had exposed many hidden secret about the Jews itself. Hitler has stated the Jews as liars, leaches and cunning. Besides, Hitler even said that the Jews only wear mask in order for them to hide their true identity and emotions. Hitler also reveals Jews as the one who hunger for power. So, who is right and who is wrong? Because of this statement, I have become little bit confused thinking about Jews and Adolf Hitler.

In my opinion, it is difficult for me to identify the truth behind all of these. All that I can do is take these stories as a lesson and as knowledge that I should know throughout my life. Everyone has their own secret and cannot be revealed through the words. Even Adolf Hitler and the Jews stories have hidden secret and remain unknown.

GOOD SIDE OF PORNOGRAPHY?

For this time, I will proceed with new entry which is about the good sides of pornography. This entry was based on the article entitled The Sunny Side of Smut written by Melinda Wenner Moyer. She is a freelance science writer based in Brooklyn, New York and frequent contributor to Scientific American Mind. From this article, I can understand that smut or commonly known as pornography is not all about the negative effects but also give positive effects towards those who view it.

In this excerpt, the author clearly stated that pornography tends to prevent from violent acts like rape and sexual harassments to occur since through this people have got what they want in their life which is sexual desires. Besides, research has been conducted and it shows that pornography did not affect relationships between male and female at all.

From my point of view, the pornography problem among people especially youth has increased from day to day. This kind of serious problem actually related to the advanced of technology nowadays. For instance, youth used an internet to access inappropriate websites in order to fulfil their teenagers’ desires. Amongst them are pornography sites. Furthermore, parents in this era did not pay full attention towards their children since they were as busy as a bee at their workplace.

As conclusion, pornography also brings positive effects towards those who view it instead of the negative effects. Societies especially the parents need to be aware with the environment. They should monitor their children activities and behaviours.  Thus, everyone need to make the best decision for own sake.

THE GREAT DEBATERS

The Great Debaters is a 2007 American film that was directed by Denzel Washington and produced by Oprah Winfrey Production Company which is Harpo Productions. This film is all based on the true story which is about equality. The plot revolves around the efforts of Melvin B. Tolson, a debater and professor of Wiley College who are trying to put his debate team on equal footing with whites in the American South during the early of 1930.

He has three great debaters in his team which are Samantha, Henry and James. Samantha Booke has just transferred to Wiley College and dreams of becoming the state’s third-ever black female lawyer. Henry Lowe is a man who struggles in order to balance his academic ideals while James Farmer, Jr. is the 14-year-old son of another Wiley professor who is eager to prove his intellectual worth to his demanding father. Together with their coach debate, Melvin they build up the school debate team to the highest national standards.

This movie contains lots of racism issue between the white and black people which happened at America. The black people always been suppressed by the white people just because their skin color until makes me felt pity with those people. It is quite similar with what happened in our country. For instance, people will isolate someone who has black as his/her skin colour. It has become a normal issue nowadays. However, still this movie manages to inspire me in debate.

ADVENTUROUS MOVIE :THE ADVENTURE OF TINTIN

The Adventure of Tintin is an American 3D motion capture computer animated adventurous movie based on The Adventures of Tintin, a series of comic books . It was directed by famous director, Steven Spielberg, produced by Peter Jackson and was written by Steven Moffat.

This movie is all about a journalist named Tintin and his dog, Snowy who end up bought a model of three mastered  sailing ship known as ‘Unicorn’ with a cheaper price. At the same time, there were two men who interested to buy the ship but had been rejected by Tintin. Then, he swept up into an adventure to discover the secret of Unicorn. During his journey, he bumped into drunken Captain Archibald Haddock. Together, they went on an adventure to find out about the secret of Unicorn itself. This has leaded them to the Haddock’s ancestral treasures.

Overall, The Adventure of Tintin is a light movie but, yet it is very fun and interesting. At first, I thought this movie contains those ‘bored’ elements but it appears that I was wrong.  There are plenty of worthy jokes that made me and my friends non- stop laughing, for instance, the scene between hilarious Captain Archibald Haddock and Tintin. Besides, the graphic of this movie also work in a good way and made all characters looked like normal people. Visually, the film looks great and well-designed. It also has stimulates my mind since I have to think in depth when the characters was in the process of solving problems and the solutions of Unicorn.

THINKING FOLLY by ECKHART TOLLE

Eckhart Tolle is a well known author of the “The Power of Now “and “A New Earth” books which were written in English. He was born on 1948 and has become a German born Canadian resident. The excerpt entitled “Thinking Folly” which was written by Tolle was an exposition to the readers in what way our mind is working.

In this article, he has stated that we as a human do not even realize that our mind is controlling us all this time yet we use our brain in a wrong ways or did not use it at all because we often thought that ‘we are mind’. This is what we called as delusion. In other words, we have become a slave for our own mind.

Thinking creates the illusion of separateness, the illusion that separates us from reality and the illusion that brings us to imagination. It can be seen that thinking and imagination is different.  Imagination was the one which lead to knowledge and make someone become creative. For example, a scientist was creative in inventing something but yet they can shake the world with their invention. So, it is essential for each human being to have an imagination rather than knowledge in this entire world.

As the conclusion, thinking is not as complicated as we thought actually. It is proven that imagination is more essential rather than knowledge. With imagination, someone can lead their own life in a happy way. You do not have to think critically or logically but you have to think creatively.

ANIMAL FARM REVIEW

Last Tuesday, during my Critical Literacy class, I have watched a movie entitled “Animal Farm” which directed by George Orwell and was published in England on 17 August 1945. At first, I did not have any interested at all to watch this kind of movie since this movie was quite dull in the beginning. Furthermore, the pigs in this movie seem to be so tickle until made me felt like vomiting. However, after that, I became used to watch the movie that include the pigs, which can be considered as the main character, in it and started to understand about the storylines of it.

SYNOPSIS OF THE MOVIE

The movie was about the animals that live in Mr Jones’s farm which trying to lead a happy life without being controlled by human being and in order to do that, they have to fight for their right. The animals in this movie include horse, dog, pig and many more. However, after they succeed to achieve what they want, they have been controlled by the pigs who claimed themselves as the leader.  As the time passes, the pigs became greedy and they just want to monopolize everything in their life. Napoleon, the greedy pig has chased the kind-hearted pig named Snowball from that farm and this making life harder for the other animals since Napoleon started to change the original Seven Commandments of Animalism.

One of the Seven Commandments of Animalism by Napoleon

The whole story was aptly concluded by the last line, “The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again, but already it was impossible to say which was which”. But still, I felt unsatisfied with the ending since I did not have any clue on what happened to Napoleon at the end. Is it died? What I know is the other kind animals got their new owners and still I did not get clue on how these animals will be treated since they have new owners now.

FICKLE FRIENDS by KIRSTEN WEIR

For this week, I decided to read an article entitled “Fickle Friends” which written by Kirsten Weir. Weir is a science writer and editor who has an experience writing for newspapers, magazines, websites, and books that covering on topics from evolution and neurobiology. In this excerpt, she has written about her point of view about type of friends that known as “frenemies” that exist in this worldwide. The exact meaning of word “frenemies” is those who can be your friends; however at the same time that friends also can be your enemy.

Kirsten Weir

Have you ever experience a friend who will help you when you have a trouble but later on that “friend” will talk or gossiping about you without you knowing about that? As for me, I have experience that kind of situation throughout my life before this. It is kind of painful and bitter memories ever. That is what we called as “frenemies” since they can be by our side when we have difficulty but at the same time they will betray us. However, this is what I called as circle of life. It has been the most common thing that happened in our life nowadays.

QUALITY OVER QUANTITY

Human are an extremely social species. They thought it is important to have lots of friends than having good ones if they want to lead a happy life. For me, I think that the number of friends, on the other hand, had not given any significant effects towards human being.  What the use of having thousand of friends in your life, but yet it is hard for you to find friends that can be by your side when you were in trouble or not? But still, this sort of friends are very helpful for me in order to identify which one is the good and the bad friend ever throughout my life.

As conclusion, “frenemies” can be bad for your health but understanding these taxing relationships can make them less painful. It is all depends to us on how to manage these “frenemies”.

“No friendship is perfect, but frenemies are consistently imperfect”.

THE STEVE JOBS NOBODY KNEW by JEFF GOODELL

Steve Jobs was born on 24 February 1955 to Joanne Simpson and Abdul Fattah ‘John’ Jandali. He was an American businessman, inventor and designer. As we know, he had become a well known person due to his Apple products, iPad and iPhone that can be accepted by majority society all around the world. However, there is a second Steve Jobs that we do not know. This article entitled “The Steve Jobs Nobody Knew” which is written by Jeff Goodell will tell us who Steve Jobs is.
Steve Jobs

In this article, Goodell has stated about Jobs ‘s attitude at his workplace. For instance, he treated his employees like puppets, an attitude that we cannot even imagine and expect came from this great man. As for me, eventhough he wanted his invention to be impeccable all the time, still this kind of attitude can be considered as inappropriate since Jobs was the best inventor ever.
From my point of view, maybe this bad attitude of Jobs was his real characteristic before he became the inventor of Apple. He just has to turn to new Jobs after he became a well known person so that he can gain trustworthy from others. Despite his bad side, Steve Jobs was the man who brought the human touch to our digital devices. Although he was died on 5 October, 2011 at the age of 56, everyone still remembered him as Apple’s founder and the great inventor ever.

“An iPod, a phone, an internet mobile communicator... these are NOT three separate devices! And we are calling it iPhone! Today Apple is going to reinvent the phone. And here it is.”- STEVE JOBS-

...MEN AND WOMEN ARE MERELY PLAYERS by ROBERT GREENE

Greene's book

This article comes from Robert Greene, an American author of well known books that discussed about power, seduction and strategy. A little brief about Greene is he was born on May 14, 1959 to a Jewish family in Los Angeles. Also, he has been graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in classical studies. His book entitled The 48 Laws of Power has been mentioned in certain songs by famous Jay-Z, Kanye West and others.

Robert Greene

Based on this excerpt, it can be seen that majority society made this temporary world as their stage by playing different characteristics from their true self in order to achieve highest power among them. Specific human being who hunger for power will become hypocrite in order to attain what they need in their life. As for me, I am totally agree with Greene's point of view regarding this topic.

This world is not for the foolish people. If they want to obtain highest power within their life, they need to struggle on it.   A warning also has been given from the author for these genuinely innocent people to beware with specific general public that claim as non players because they might have lots of ways to obtain highest power within their life. For instance, they may act like innocent people in order to raise trustworthy from others to achieve highest position in one society.

As the Great Machiavelli wrote " Any man who tries to be good all the time is bound to come to ruin among the great number who are not good".

In my opinion, this excerpt is such an interesting topic to be discussed about. Through this article, each individual can be alert of what happened in the worldwide. As for the strongest people, they will know that they still cannot manipulate certain people although they have pretended to be someone else in order to gain highest power because honesty is the best policy here. While, for the weakest people, they still can achieve power if they struggle more on it.

HORROR MOVIE : FROM HELL

From Hell is a mystery horror movie which directed by the Hughes brothers and starring by Johnny Depp who played an important role as Inspector Frederick Abberrline. This movie was actually an adaptation from comic book series which talked about Jack the Ripper murders.

This movie quickly introduces you to Abberline, the visionary police officer who had to investigate murder cases which involved the prostitutes that happened in London. He and his assistant, Peter Godley were responsible to figure out who was actually the murderer of these all prostitutes. The killer was absolutely very cruel and heartless. He will cut his victims’ throat first to prevent them from screaming. Then, he proceeded to kill them like a ritual. On the other side, this movie brought you to know Mary Kelly, a young and beautiful prostitute. There is a connection between Mary Kelly and the victims where they were actually best friends. During the investigation, Abberline met Mary Kelly and both of them eventually fall in love with each other.

JACK THE RIPPER

Jack the Ripper is an unidentified serial murderer who had kill lots of prostitutes in district of London in 1888. He can also be known as The Whitechapel Murderer and Leather Apron. It is believed that there were five victims of Jack the Ripper. Amongst them were Mary Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride, Catherine Eddowes and Mary Kelly.

In my opinion, this thriller movie was such an interesting movie. The plot of this movie went smoothly and I totally did not feel bored at all watching this movie. Plus, there were lots of unexpected scene happened along this movie. For example, at the last scene when Abberline died because he took too many drugs. I did not expect this scene will take place since I expect that Abberline will live happily ever after with Mary Kelly. Although this kind of things occurred, I still love this movie and wish to watch it again in the future.

*must watching movie

BIOGRAPHICAL MOVIE : THE PIANIST

The Pianist is a biographical war movie which directed by Roman Polanski and starring Adrien Brody who got an Oscar for his role. It was about Wladyslaw Szpilman ( Adrien Brody), a famous Polish Jews who was working as the pianist for Warsaw Radio. This story begins when the Nazis first arrived and started to take over their place. This has made them living in hunger, death and humiliation. It was a privileged when Szpilman is saved from a labour camp and this makes him hiding, battling illness and searching for his own foods in order to survive.

Because of his determination and efforts to survive, he succeeds to bear up until to the end. I felt very satisfied when the Jews gets back their freedom while Szpilman returned to his normal life and started to play piano again. He is not a hero, but he is totally a survivor in this movie.

Adrien Brody
At first, I thought this movie was really bored since I was the one who did not have any interest on war movie at all. Plus, I did not really get what they are talking about due to the sound system seems to be little bit slow. The scene when they talked in German also has made me lost since there is no subtitle available.  However, this movie has made my eyes opened widely when I watched the scene where Nazis, the heartless people has tortured and murdered an innocent people. For example, an old man in a wheelchair was thrown through a window by the Nazis. It was like I was in that movie and I can feel all those pains that the innocent people faced. Other scene that has touched my heart is when Szpilman was playing piano. The rhythm of the music sounds really wonderful. That was when I found out that this movie was actually an interesting movie.

In my opinion, this movie has made me realize that I lived in such a harmony and peaceful country. I really cannot imagine how I will manage my life if I stayed in those cruel and heartless countries. As a Malaysian, we should be grateful since there is no symbol of torturing and murdering an innocent people in our country.

ALL THE COOL KIDS ARE QUITTING FACEBOOK by JENNA WORTHAM

Jenna Wortham is one of the technology reporter from New York Times who had shared her opinion about why Facebook’s popularity decrease although before this Facebook continuing to grow drastically in United States. She also stated that it is cool to quit Facebook than joining Facebook.

Jenna Wortham

In this era, there were many types of social networking. One of them is Facebook. Facebook itself was founded by Mark Zuckerberg and his friends. One of the reasons why Facebook became the best selling points is that it can build closer ties among beloved family and fellow friends. Every human being around the world of course, has at least one Facebook account so that they can communicate with their long distance family and friends. As a normal human being, I also have one Facebook account for that same reason.

Mark Zuckerberg
Based on the article that was written by Wortham title “All The Cool Kids Are Quitting Facebook”, Facebook also can ruin someone’s relationship such as the relationship between woman and her closest friends just because one small matter. Trust is the most important thing that contribute to this kind of issue. Amanda Lenhart, who had study research on teenagers, children and families at the Pew Internet and American Life Project said that people who used Facebook tend to have general sense of others and also institutions or organization. People made decison to not use Facebook because they afraid about the effects of Facebook towards them.

On the other hand, people also afraid to open Facebook account because they did not want something bad happen to them in the future. For instance, nowadays, there were lots of stalkers get involve in social networking. Because of this stalkers, people especially teenagers always become their victims of fraud.

Yes, Facebook is very helpful because it can act like a connecter to you so that you can always communicate with your family and colleagues although they live far away from you. But, you also have to think about the side effects of Facebook towards yourselves. As we know, there were lots of criminal problem reported by newspaper. The criminal problem such as fraud often manacle the Facebook’ users.

People think that by using social networking, it can increase your popularity and social life. It is totally different with my opinions and thought. What the use of having thousand of friends in social networking sites if you have no privacy at all ?

THE DEGREE OF HAPPINESS by BETRAND RUSSELL

Bertrand Arthur William Russell was born at Trelleck on 18th
May, 1872 and was educated at Trinity College, University of Cambridge. He was a British philosopher, mathematician, logician, historian and also social critic.
Betrand Russell

He has shared his opinions and thought about happiness  in article title "The Degree Of Happiness". Actually, this article was an excerpt from his own book named “The Conquest of Happiness”.

The Conquest of Happiness 's book

In this article, Russell said that happiness can be divided into two sorts. Firstly, happiness is open to any human being. Secondly, happiness is opened to those who can read or write. He also has included his childhood memories in this article as an example. When Russell was still a young boy, he knew a man whose business was digging wells was bursting with happiness. But, in the year of 1885, when that man got a vote for parliament, he learnt for the first time that happiness was not only depends on intellectual sources but also based on the physical vigor.  The meaning of this physical vigor is sufficiency of work and the overcoming of not insuperable obstacles in the shape of a rock.

Then, Russell also claimed that there was other sort of happiness which are scientist and artist.  He said that the happiest people of the present day are the men of science. Many of them are emotionally simple and they can simply  obtain satisfaction through their work so profound that they can derive pleasure from eating and even marrying. It is really different from the art people who found the hardship in finding a happiness. For instance, if the public cannot understand the picture or a poem that was produced by them, public can just conclude that the picture or a poem as a bad one. Thus, these circumstances prove that artists are less happy than scientists because they are having a difficulty in choosing between being despised and being despicable.

Be happy wherever and whenever you are :)

As conclusion, this article discussed about why some group of people easy to find happiness in their life, while some group of them not face the same situation. It seems that everyone has different degree of happiness in their life. Happiness is a feeling and  it cannot be determined through someone’s position and wealth.

In my opinion, this article is quite difficult to understand because the writer himself wrote many kind of advanced words in sharing his opinions about happiness with the readers. However, those kind of advanced words are actually very helpful since I can use it in my future essay. In any case, this article still is an interesting article.
